Pour ce projet, il a voyagé pendant cinq ans, rencontrant et photographiant les gens ordinaires qui peuplent les paysages les plus extraordinaires d’Amérique. Le livre comprend 103 photographies en noir et blanc méticuleusement imprimées, un essai d’Avedon sur ses méthodes de travail et sa philosophie du portrait, ainsi qu’un journal du projet rédigé par Laura Wilson.
Reissue of a landmark project by Richard Avedon, first published in 1985 on the occasion of the groundbreaking exhibition at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, and reissued on the occasion of its 40th anniversary in 2025. For this project, he travelled for five years, meeting and photographing ordinary people who inhabit America's most extraordinary landscapes. The book includes 103 meticulously printed black-and-white photographs, an essay by Avedon on his working methods and philosophy of portraiture, and a journal of the project written by Laura Wilson. |
