L’ouvrage étudie la tradition des bijoux en or et grenat du Roussillon, transmise de génération en génération depuis le XVIIᵉ siècle. À partir d’un important corpus de pièces, de photographies et de recherches d’archives, l’auteur replace ces parures dans leur contexte historique et analyse les formes ainsi que les matériaux utilisés par les bijoutiers locaux. Il met en évidence l’unité stylistique de ces productions, tout en soulignant leur spécificité par rapport au reste de la Catalogne et aux régions voisines. Longtemps considérée comme mineure, cette bijouterie apparaît ainsi comme un élément fort de l’identité culturelle roussillonnaise.
This book examines the tradition of gold and garnet jewelry in Roussillon, passed down from generation to generation since the 17th century. Drawing on a substantial collection of pieces, photographs, and archival research, the author situates these adornments within their historical context and analyzes the forms and materials used by local jewelers. He highlights the stylistic unity of these pieces, while emphasizing their distinctiveness compared to the rest of Catalonia and neighboring regions. Long considered minor, this jewelry tradition thus emerges as a key element of Roussillon’s cultural identity. |
