À partir d’une vaste enquête familiale et historique, l’auteur reconstitue son parcours, de Constantinople à Paris. S’appuyant sur des photographies inédites et les témoignages des derniers témoins, l’ouvrage éclaire le monde de la haute couture dans la France des années 1930 et 1940. Il révèle avec précision les circonstances qui ont conduit à la disparition tragique de cette jeune femme juive devenue égérie de la mode.
This biography traces the life of Bella Ariel, a star model for the Lanvin fashion house during the Occupation. Drawing on extensive family and historical research, the author reconstructs her journey from Constantinople to Paris. Drawing on previously unpublished photographs and the accounts of the last surviving witnesses, the book sheds light on the world of haute couture in France during the 1930s and 1940s. It reveals in detail the circumstances that led to the tragic disappearance of this young Jewish woman who had become a fashion icon. |
